Tarsal tunnel syndrome is a foot pain that can make it difficult to do simple things like walk or drive. Movement of the foot makes the pain worse and at times, just standing still can cause electrical pain. It is usually managed in collaboration with a podiatrist.
CAUSES
Tarsal tunnel contains the posterior tibial nerve that can get compressed with movement. When a nerve is irritated, it tends to swell and make the compression worse.
Symptoms
Nerve-like pain.
Sharp, electrical pain that worsens with activity.
