Spondylosis & Facet Syndrome

What You Need to Know

Our facet joints stabilize the spine and allow twisting. Like any other joint in the body, the facet joints can become arthritic due to aging or due to repetitive trauma that causes back (lumbar or thoracic) and neck (cervical) pain.

Causes

Spondylosis and facet syndrome can be a result of aging or repetitive spinal stress. It can also accompany conditions and injuries, like arthritis, trauma and whiplash.

Symptoms

  • Back pain.
  • Pain that worsens with movement, like leaning backward or twisting.
  • Pain that worsens with movement, like neck extension and twisting.
  • Tenderness in the area of the facet joints
