Like the use of botulinum toxin for headaches, botox can also be used to treat muscles that are hyperactive or have chronic muscle spasms that are not improving with typical management.The injections are performed in an office setting and are typically low risk. The treatment helps reduce the muscle tone for about three months. This allows stretching exercises to be more effective. This treatment is particularly effective in patients who have a history of a stroke, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis or any other diagnosis that has resulted in damage to the brain and/or spinal cord.
What to expect
Whiplash injury is typically caused after a car accident, a work injury, a sports injury or any other trauma that leads to the spine being moved abruptly.
Recovery
- Achy, throbbing pain in the affected area.
- A feeling of stiffness.
- Cervical radiculopathy from disc herniation.
- Facet joint inflammation.
- Neck pain.
Other symptoms can be noted based on the type of whiplash injury and subsequent injuries.
